*To clean the microwave in a snap (literally) and naturally: put about a cup of water and a teaspoon or more of baking soda in a cup (I always use a mug) in the microwave and heat it until it starts steaming or until the water starts to boil. Remove the cup and wipe microwave clean with dry or damp paper towels or dish cloth. Dry.
*To mop linoleum and tile floors: fill sink with hot water and add a moderate amount of vinegar. Mop the floors as normal.
*To clean the bathtub: rinse tub with hot water, sprinkle some baking soda in the tub (don't overdo it), then splash some vinegar in the bottom. Take a sponge dampened with water and vinegar and scrub the tub clean. Then rinse with hot water. Scum comes up extremely easily, especially if you use an abrasive sponge.
*To clean the toilet: lift lid and seat of toilet, dump baking soda in water and all around inside edges of toilet bowl. Pour some vinegar in. Scrub toilet with toilet brush. Rinse sides of toilet...a cup of hot water works well. Use cloth or sponge with vinegar to clean rest of toilet.
*To clean counters, sinks, etc.: use vinegar and water on sponges or cloths or if necessary also add baking soda.
*To clean drains: pour small amount of baking soda down drain, boil some water with a large amount of vinegar, and pour down drain. A few minutes later, run some water down the drain. You may also choose to add lemon juice to this concoction.
*To clean jewelry: replace harmful jewelry cleaner with vinegar. A small toothbrush makes a fine jewelry brush. Do not use on opals, pearls, etc....anything you wouldn't use jewelry cleaner for. Do not soak metals for prolonged periods of time, as vinegar will break down metal.
*Soak rusted items in vinegar. The vinegar will eat away the rust.
*Use vinegar to disinfect cuts and minor wounds. Also rub in on bug bites and other itches.
